12/8/2003- More on Paramount & Twin Peaks Season 2 Brian over at www.dugpa.com has come up with some interesting news, and it's good news in general for anyone living outside of Region 1. According to dugpa.com, Paramount plans to release season 2 on DVD in 2004, probably September 2004 which seems to confirm our previous news below. The added news to this though is that rumor has it that Paramount is asking Lynch to be involved with the DVD. Dugpa.com reminds everyone that this is still very early in production and anything can happen. For those of us in Region 1 (US, Canada), we still don't know what is going on exactly. Sources at Artisan keep confirming they are working on it but who knows at this point. Hopefully with Artisan being purchased by Lion's Gate, we will see something change. 11/14/2003- Paramount & Twin Peaks Season 2 A variety of websites seem to be indicating that Season 2 of Twin Peaks will be released next September and October in Australia. The DVD will be released by Paramount who has rights to most (if not all) other regions but Region 1 (North America). The rumor is that it will be released in two parts. Part 1 will contain four discs and will be released September 9th, and the second 4 set of discs will be released October 7. Supposedly, the box set (contain all discs) will be released on Oct 7 too. Of course, all dates are subject to change. If this is true, then Americans might need to consider buying Region Free DVD players unless Lions Gate decides to also release Region 1 of Season 2. 11/10/2003 (later in the day)- An Update to Possible Bad News for Twin Peaks Season 2 DVD This morning I posted a little snippet of information from TVShownsonDVD. I contacted our contact from Artisan this morning concerning this and the contact informed us that from what this person has been told, this is not the case, and that Twin Peaks Season 1 sold just fine. So once again, we are in limbo. The only thing we can do at this point is contact Lions Gate, the new owners of Artisan, and let them know we want season 2 on DVD. You can contact them at this email : feedbacklg@lionsgatefilms.com. 11/10/2003 - Possible Bad News for Twin Peaks Season 2 DVD TVShowsonDVD.com has posted a story regarding why we haven't seen season 2 on DVD, and it's not good news. According to the site, "there just wasn't enough of you" for Artisan to decide that doing season 2 was profitable. Granted, season 1 did well, but not well enough to warrant an expensive release of season 2. You can read more here. Now, I don't know about you but this smells like cold and sour coffee!! You might remember that when season 1 came out, they delayed it because of the demand. It's quite possible that there are not enough TP fans out there, BUT why does the studio have to give the best of the best? Granted, I'd love to see the best of the best of season 2, but compared to what I have now on my VHS tapes, anything would be better than this!!! A simple bare-bones DVD set would be just fine, and it's time to let Artisan know! Artisan is going to be purchased by Lions Gate so that could be a good thing for Twin Peaks.
